S/M 101
All S/M sessions, and most especially heavier ones, need to be negotiated in advance.

The limits of all participants should to be clear.

A "safe word" should be decided upon. If the submissive gets gagged, it is important to test that they can still utter a safe word – or a non-verbal safe word can be decided upon.

It could be dangerous/unpleasant to have an S/M session with someone you don't trust. It's always a good idea to leave word of your whereabouts to a trusted friend.

Find out the submissive's motivation: do they like to please? Are they into pain? Do they enjoy humiliation? Do they like the relinquishing of control? The submissive should stretch before bondage. During bondage, the dominant needs to make sure that the submissive is not losing sensation (or getting too tingly, or too purple/blue) in body parts that are tied up: untie them, and give them rests as needed.

Suspension bondage can be very dangerous; any one ceiling hook, etc., may fail with no warning: make sure that there's a backup in place. Most people can take a lot more – and enjoy it far more – if they are well aroused first (for example, using masturbation or light spanking, etc.)

All impact is best delivered on fleshy body parts. Avoid bony areas; in particular, the spine. Breasts are generally fine. Start light, and build up. Learn about what the submissive can deal with. Do not break the skin (draw blood): it might lead to scars! If slapping face, do it VERY LIGHT! Hair pulling seems to be quite popular among girls... To make it enjoyable, for most people, you must grab the hair near the scalp, not by its ends! Some people have jaw problems, and should not be gagged (or at most a small bit gag.)

Gags that close the mouth (as opposed to open-mouth gags) can be dangerous or fatal if the person throws up. Never use closed gags on anyone who's feeling nausea, etc! Never insert into the rectum any liquids that wouldn't be safe to drink in the same amounts. In particular, alcohol enemas are very dangerous and can be fatal.
